Unit 3: the divergent paths of the American People: 1800-1850
This unit explores the nation’s regional development in the Northeast, South, and West. Each region encompassed a distinct geography, economic focus, and demographic composition. Students can compare the regions and how they developed. It is important to note that although the regions appeared to be developing separate characteristics, in fact the nation was becoming increasingly inter-dependent and connected in the first half of the nineteenth century.
