The Debate Team will meet once a week after school to plan and prepare together for upcoming competitions. Most of the time, Debate Teams will need to research outside meeting times to be prepared.

Public Speaking / debate class

The Debate Class will spend time:
~ learning debate techniques;
~ learning research methods;
~ writing arguments;
~ learning and practicing public speaking skills.

ARESR Format for Making arguments:
A = Assertion - the label for an argument
R = Reason - the logical analysis supporting an assertion
E = Evidence - information from experience or observation
S = Significance - qualitative and quantitative importance of an argument 
R = Result - proof or the comparative value of an argument

BASICS OF EFFECTIVE ARGUMENTATION
4-Step Refutation - How to refute an argument effectively:
