Absent – I was absent yesterday. Where can I get the work I missed? Check the agenda on the whiteboard or website to find out what you missed.
Agenda – When do we have to bring our agenda? You have to bring your agenda everyday.
Agenda – Why do we need an agenda? You need an agenda to organize your classes, schedule study times, and keep track of homework. In this class, you will need to write in your agenda each day two things: 1. what we do in class, and 2. what is for homework.
Agenda – What did we do yesterday? Please check the agenda on the board or on the dreves.us “agenda” page.
Agenda – Do you check the agendas? I check and stamp agendas once a week (last day of the week).
Agenda – What week is it? The weeks are listed on both the whiteboard in class and on the dreves.us, “agenda” page.
Bathroom – What is the bathroom / drink of water policy? Students may use the restroom/drink during the middle part of class only. The first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes are off-limits. Restroom/water pass may only be used if the teacher is not in direct instruction. Students are issued a set of passes that they can use at any time of the trimester. Once passes are gone, restroom/water will still be granted but a 30 minute detention will be issued. (See Student Passport)
Due Date – How can I find out when an assignment is due? To find out when an assignment is due, you can check the agenda on the whiteboard in the room or on the “agenda” page on dreves.us.
Elbow partner – What is an elbow partner? An elbow partner is someone that you sit next to in class for one month. Elbow partners should help each other with work, quizzes, questions, etc. You should always ask your elbow partner a question before you ask the teacher.
Email address – Do you have an email address that students and parents can reach you at? Yes, it is reves@psusd.us. It is the best way to reach me.
Excused – Do we leave when the bell rings? The bell never excuses the class, only the teacher does. We will be finished before the bell rings 170 of the 180 days of school .
Extra credit – Do you give extra credit? Yes, extra credit is embedded in regular assignments and tests. I will NEVER give separate / additional extra credit.
Grades – When do we get progress reports? School issued progress reports are sent once each trimester. The first two are during parent conference days and the third trimester the report is just mailed home. Parents and students can check grades at anytime using Synergy.
Grades – What is my grade? If you logon to your StudentVUE / ParentVUE account, you can see updates on all your classes. Students and parents can have their own account.
Gum – Can I chew gum in class? NO, there should NEVER be chewing gum in class, EVER.
Improve grades – How can I improve my grades? There are five keys to success in this class – 1. Visit dreves.us regularly; 2. Use agenda daily; 3. Turn work in on time; 4. Study for tests; 5. Come for tutoring as needed.
Late work – Do you accept late work? Yes, late work will be accepted for up to "Last Makeup Date" (see Home Page or Whiteboard for dates on specific assignments).
Pen – Can I use pen on my work? Yes, you can use pen, but it has to be blue or black ink, ball point pen, only.
Pencil – May I borrow a pencil? If there is a pencil in the pencil cup, you may borrow it, but please return it when you are finished.
Pencil – When may I sharpen a pencil? As long as the teacher is not directly speaking to the whole class, you may sharpen your pencil.
Phone – May I use my phone in class? No, phones should be turned off during school hours.
Quizzes – Are the quizzes open book? All quizzes will be open book, open note, and you may work together.
Retake – Can I retake a quiz? No, you can not retake quizzes or tests, but some assignments you can “finish”.
Seats – Why do we change seats every 6 to 7 weeks (6 times a year)? We change seats regularly so everyone in class can have the experience of working with different people with different personalities and strengths. We also change seats regularly to get a different perspective from the front of the room, to the back of the room, to different sides of the room.
Seats – I don’t like where I am sitting, can I change seats? No, seats are assigned for 1/2 a trimester at a time and it gives everyone an opportunity to work with multiple people, even if they don’t get along.
Seats – Can I pick my own seat? No, seats are assigned by Dr. Eves on a regular basis.
Seats – When do we change seats? We change seats on the first Monday of a new grading period.
Tests – Are the tests open book? All tests are NOT open book, are NOT open note, and you may NOT work together.
Textbooks – When do I have to bring my textbook? There is an old textbook in class that you can share with another student. You are welcome to bring your own, but it is not required. There is also an online version of the text book.
Textbooks – What do I do if I find a problem with the textbook? You should always tell the teacher and then attempt to fix the problem. If it is a pencil mark, erase it. If it is a ripped page, tape it.
Time left – How do I know how much time is left on an assignment? There will be a timer on the screen many times.
Tissue – Can I use a tissue? Tissues are kept in the back of the room. You may use them as needed.
Tutoring – When do you offer tutoring? I offer tutoring regularly. Check the “schedules” page on dreves.us for days and times.
Vocabulary words – Where can I find the current vocabulary words? The words are on the back wall, whiteboard, “agenda” page and “Chapter/Unit” page on dreves.us.
Warm Up – Do I have to do the daily warm up / wrap up if I’m absent? Yes, the daily warm up / wrap up questions and activities are designed to help prepare you for quizzes and tests. You must complete every warm up / wrap up EVEN IF YOU ARE ABSENT.
