Essential Question - How will America solve issues in the coming election?
Learning Target
 - students will show their knowledge of the American political system of electing a President by writing a four paragraph letter that describes the process and encourages participation.
Day 3. Using the content you learned in Day 1 and Day 2 (and/or referring to those notes), create a four paragraph letter to a voter in the upcoming Presidential election.  The letter's paragraphs should include this information:
  * Paragraph 1 - Introduce who they are and what the purpose of the letter is,
  * Paragraph 2 - Describe the process of electing a President (include some, but not all of: primaries, political parties, conventions, debates, electoral college,
  * Paragraph 3 - Describe how or why you plan to participate in the process (now or in the future),
  * Paragraph 4 - Conclusion - include why a voter should listen to what you have to say.

Learning Target
 - students will view Presidential Debate #2 and visit candidate's websites to identify their positions on various issues in this election on a graphic organizer.
Day 4. View and Discuss the video about "mudslinging". Then watch Video #2 and respond to the questions on Slide #1 on the Assignment.  Next watch the three (3) short selections of the Presidential Debate #2 and "filter" out the "mudslinging" and take notes on the candidate's positions on each question raised on corresponding slides in the assignment. (20% Project - Election 2016 - Day 4)

Learning Target
 - students will write a persuasive essay supporting one candidate and two reasons and details.
Day 6. Directions - Construct a Three (3) Paragraph Persuasive Essay Supporting either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump using TWO Reasons to support your answer.  Your Three (3) Paragraphs should be as follows:
  • Paragraph 1 - Introductory Paragraph (5 sentences) - State your position, the historical nature of this election, background information on the candidate - use details from any of the previous assignments;  Day 1 - 5.
  • Paragraph 2 - Reason #1 (5 sentences) - Use the R.A.C.E.S. format to write this paragraph about one strength/issue about the candidate - use details from previous assignments - Day 4-5 or the links below.
  • Paragraph 3 - Reason #2 (5 sentences) - Use the R.A.C.E.S. format to write this paragraph about one strength/issue about the candidate - use details from previous assignments - Day 4-5 or the links below.
